Import Contacts is a simple utility that lets you turn a CSV or Excel spreadsheet into real iPhone contacts in seconds. You can open a file, match the columns, review entries, and import them into the Contacts app with one tap. We keep things lightweight and private. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and what rights you have.
1. Information We Collect
Import Contacts does not require an account or login. There is no separate Import Contacts cloud account. Your data lives on your device and, if enabled, in your private iCloud account.
Device Information
If you download or use the app, Apple or your device may provide basic, non-identifying analytics such as crash reports, performance data, or general usage statistics. This data does not include the contact details you import or the contents of your CSV or Excel files.
Contacts and Files on Your Device
To work, Import Contacts needs access to the CSV or Excel files that you choose to open in the app and to your iPhone Contacts app so it can create or update contact entries. All of this happens on your device. We do not send your contacts or spreadsheets to our own servers.
iCloud Storage (Import Backups)
Import Contacts uses Apple's iCloud services to store a private backup of your imported lists and related app data so that, if you lose your device or contacts, you can reopen the app and restore from your past imports. This backup is tied to your Apple ID and managed by Apple. We do not have direct access to your iCloud account or its contents.
Email Support
If you email us at support@importcontacts.app, we will receive the information you choose to send, such as your email address, the message content, and any screenshots you attach. This information is used only to respond to your support request.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
We do not collect, receive, or store on our own servers:
- Your contact names, phone numbers, email addresses, or other contact details
- The contents of your CSV or Excel files
- Account usernames or passwords
- Location data
- Photos or media from your device
- Payment information (all payments are processed by Apple, if applicable)
We do not run ads and do not share or sell user data. We do not build advertising profiles or track you across apps or websites.
3. How Your Data Is Used
We use your information only in the following ways:
- On your device, to read the CSV or Excel file you select, match its columns, and create or update contacts in the iPhone Contacts app
- In iCloud, to store a private backup of your imports so you can restore them later if needed
- From Apple's basic analytics, to understand crashes and performance issues in order to improve the app
- From your support emails, to respond to your questions and troubleshoot issues
We do not use your data for advertising, user tracking, or selling to third parties.
4. Data Storage
On Your Device
The contacts you import are saved directly into the iPhone Contacts app on your device. Depending on your device settings, those contacts may sync through iCloud or any other contact account (such as Google or Exchange) you have configured with Apple.
In the App and iCloud
Import history and backups created by the app are stored in the app's local storage and in iCloud storage associated with your Apple ID. Deleting the app will remove app data stored locally on your device. It will not remove contacts that have already been added to the Contacts app.
Support Emails
Emails you send to us are stored in our email system for recordkeeping and customer support.
5. Third-Party Services
Import Contacts does not integrate any third-party analytics or advertising SDKs. However:
- Apple and the App Store may collect anonymous usage, crash, or purchase data according to Apple's own privacy policies.
- iCloud storage and contact syncing are provided by Apple and are subject to Apple's terms and privacy practices.
We do not control how Apple handles that data, but we design the app so that your contacts and spreadsheets do not pass through our own servers.
6. Children's Privacy
Import Contacts does not collect personal data on its own and is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If a child under 13 contacts us by email, and we become aware of it, we will use that information only to respond and will delete it when no longer needed.
7. Your Rights
Because Import Contacts does not operate its own user accounts or servers for your contact data, the main information we hold directly is any emails you have sent to us and any attachments included in those emails. Depending on your country or region, you may have rights such as requesting deletion of support emails you have sent or requesting information about what data we hold about you (which is typically limited to your emails to us). To make a request, email support@importcontacts.app. For your contacts and iCloud data, you can manage, edit, or delete them directly on your device or through Apple's settings and tools.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The latest version will always be available in the app or on our website. We encourage you to review it periodically so you know how your data is handled.
